noun

Measure Word

Meanings

  1. 1 pork tripe
  2. 2 pig stomach

About the ingredient

肉类 Meat

A pig's stomach, sold whole: a thick, pale pouch that must be scrubbed clean. Boiled until tender, it is cut into chewy strips for stir-fries, braised and sliced cold, or stewed in soup.

Examples

HSK 5
Zhūdǔ jī shì Guǎngdōng míngtāng.
Pork tripe chicken is a famous Cantonese soup.
HSK 7-9
Zhūdǔ yào yòng miànfěn cuōxǐ cái gānjìng.
Pork tripe must be scrubbed with flour to clean it properly.

Tips

mistakes
肚 has two readings: dù (belly, as in 肚子) and dǔ (edible stomach/tripe, as here). 猪肚 is zhūdǔ - using dù would sound like the pig's abdomen in general, not the organ on your plate.
