Glass noodles cooked with minced pork, chili bean paste and scallion until they soak up the sauce. Savoury and mildly hot. The name, ants climbing a tree, comes from the bits of pork clinging to the noodles.
The key to Ants Climbing a Tree is properly softened noodles and well-browned minced pork.

Classic Sichuan home-style dish: mung-bean vermicelli (粉丝) stir-fried with spiced minced pork, douban chili paste, and scallions. The name is visual - specks of dark pork clinging to translucent noodles look like ants climbing twigs. Folk tradition attributes it to the Yuan-dynasty heroine Dou E 窦娥, who supposedly invented it to feed her bedridden mother-in-law cheaply.
