Tips

usage
Here 山西 means 'west of the hills', not Shanxi province: the village lay west of the hills near 陆游's home at Shanyin, today's Shaoxing. He wrote the poem in 1167, after being dismissed from office. Its famous couplet is 山重水复疑无路,柳暗花明又一村。 'Hills upon hills, streams upon streams, I fear there is no road; then, past dark willows and bright flowers, another village.'
