Tips

history
King 盘庚 moved the Shang capital here around 1300 BC, and it stayed until the dynasty fell in 1046 BC, which is why the late Shang is also called 殷. Digs since 1928 have found palaces, royal tombs such as that of the woman general 妇好, and the heaviest Shang bronze vessel, the Houmuwu ding.
memory
墟 means "ruins", as in 废墟. The site was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006.
