Tips

culture
His breaking point is the chapter 林教头风雪山神庙, 'Instructor Lin at the mountain-god temple in wind and snow': sheltering there, he overhears that the fodder depot he guards was set alight to kill him, kills the men who did it and flees to Liangshan.
memory
His nickname 豹子头, 'Panther Head', fits his looks: the novel gives him 豹头环眼, 'a leopard's head and ringed eyes', the very words 三国演义 uses for 张飞, and he fights with Zhang Fei's weapon, the eighteen-foot serpent spear.
