Don't confuse 马陆 with 蜈蚣 'centipede'. A millipede has two pairs of legs on most body segments, moves slowly and eats rotting plants; a centipede has one pair per segment, runs fast and has a venomous bite. In everyday speech a millipede is also a 千脚虫.
