Tips

history
韩婴, a scholar at the courts of Emperors Wen and Jing, founded the Han school of the 诗经, one of three officially taught readings of the Songs. His "inner commentary" is lost; this "outer" one, which uses lines of the Songs to sum up moral tales, survives in ten scrolls. The rival 毛诗 school won out, and its text is the Book of Songs read today.
culture
Many well-known tales are told here, among them the mantis that stalks a cicada while an oriole waits behind it, the fable behind 螳螂捕蝉,黄雀在后.
