The old name lives on in 郫县豆瓣, the fermented chili bean paste at the heart of Sichuan cooking.

history

It became 郫都区 in 2016. Legend makes it the seat of the ancient kingdom of 蜀 under the kings 望帝 and 丛帝, who are honored at a shrine there.
