Tips

history
缙 is not an independent word today. It survives almost only in 缙绅 ('the gentry / officialdom') and the place name 缙云. The silk radical 纟 gives the cloth sense; 晋 supplies the sound.
register
Literary and archaic. Outside the fixed word 缙绅 and proper names, you will not meet 缙 in modern speech or writing.

Components

radical
纟 sī
silk; thread (left-side form)
纟 is the left-side form of 丝 (silk). It tells the reader 缙 originally named a kind of dyed cloth, grouping it with 缟 and 缯.
phonetic
晋 jìn
phonetic element
晋 supplies the reading for 缙 directly, with matching tone. It carries only the sound, no meaning.
