Tips

culture
From 林逋's plum couplet 疏影横斜水清浅,暗香浮动月黄昏, 'sparse shadows slant across the clear shallow water; a hidden fragrance drifts in the moonlit dusk'. 疏影 and 暗香 became poetic names for plum blossom, and in 1191 姜夔 took both as titles for two tunes of his own.
