Tips

usage
This long-standing title, 'the sea's daughter', goes back to early Chinese translations. Disney's 1989 film is 小美人鱼, and that name is now common for the tale as well.
culture
The mermaid gives up her voice for human legs, and when the prince marries another she chooses to die rather than kill him. The bronze statue of her from Copenhagen left Denmark for the first time in 2010, for the Shanghai World Expo.
