history
After landing he was named 航天英雄 'Space Hero'. Asked whether he had seen the Great Wall, 长城, from orbit, he said no: from that height no single structure can be made out.
usage
China calls its own astronauts 航天员; 宇航员 is the general word, and Hong Kong and Taiwan say 太空人. The English 'taikonaut' was coined from 太空 'outer space'.
