Tips

culture
The whole poem: 你站在桥上看风景,看风景的人在楼上看你。明月装饰了你的窗子,你装饰了别人的梦。 'You stand on the bridge looking at the view; someone looking at the view looks at you from a tower. The bright moon adorns your window; you adorn someone else's dream.'
usage
As a word, 断章 'a broken-off section' lives on mainly in 断章取义 'to quote out of context'. 卞之琳 (1910–2000) said these four lines were all he kept of a longer poem he was not happy with.
