Founded 1995 at National Taiwan University; the name is just a phonetic spelling of 'PTT'. Still runs on a 1990s-style telnet/BBS interface and is the single most influential opinion-shaping site in Taiwan - election polls, gossip, gaming culture, and slang (乡民 netizen, 推文 upvote-comment) all trace back here.
