Tips

history
It was first built in the Northern Wei, about 1,500 years ago. The slim wooden posts beneath make it look propped up, but most of its weight rests on beams sunk into holes in the rock. A local rhyme says it hangs from the sky by 三根马尾, "three horse hairs".
