Chinese uses it for any great church, whether or not a bishop has his seat there, and in names it covers basilicas too: 圣彼得大教堂 (St Peter's Basilica), 圣马可大教堂 (St Mark's Basilica), 科隆大教堂 (Cologne Cathedral). An ordinary church is 教堂.
