The exhibition traces China's history from the Opium War of 1840 to the present, told as a road to national rejuvenation (民族复兴). On 29 November 2012, two weeks after becoming Party leader, 习近平 toured it with the new leadership and first spoke there of the 中国梦.

usage

CCTV's documentary series of the same name, broadcast in 2007, tells the same story from 1840 onward. Context shows which is meant; the exhibition is the one usually cited.
