普契尼 died in 1924 before finishing it, and it was first staged in 1926. Its tenor aria 《今夜无人入睡》 (Nessun dorma) is one of the best known in opera, and the tune of the folk song 《茉莉花》 runs through the score. In 1998 张艺谋 staged it at the 紫禁城 in Beijing.
