usage

叽叽咕咕 is low, indistinct talk, often secretive or grumbling, and shares its 咕 with 嘀咕 "to mutter". Compare the noisy chatter of 叽叽喳喳 and the hushed gossip of 嘁嘁喳喳. The second syllable is neutral: jījigūgū.
