history
偕 means "together". The word comes from the 《诗经》: 执子之手,与子偕老 "I hold your hand, to grow old with you" (邶风), and 及尔偕老 "to grow old with you" (卫风). Today it is mostly heard in the wedding wish 白头偕老.
