Tips

history
俅 is not used alone. Its classical sense survives in the reduplication 俅俅 ('respectful-looking', describing a ceremonial cap in the 《诗经》). It is also the old transcription character in 俅人, an old name for the Derung people. The person radical 亻 gives the human-bearing image; 求 supplies the sound.
register
Archaic and literary. You meet 俅 only in classical text and old ethnonyms, not in modern speech.

Components

radical
亻 dānrénpáng

亻 is the left-side form of 人 (person). In 俅 it marks a human bearing or manner, here a respectful, submissive air.
phonetic
