Hebrew prophet of Jerusalem in the 8th century BC, to whom the Book of Isaiah in the Bible is credited. This is the Catholic Chinese spelling; Protestant Bibles write 以赛亚.
The Catholic form comes from the 思高本, the Studium Biblicum Bible completed in 1968; 以赛亚 is the spelling of the Protestant 和合本 (Chinese Union Version) of 1919.
