Mainland and Taiwan books alike usually write 左拉; 佐拉 is a rarer variant with the same sound. His novel Germinal, about a coal miners' strike, is 《萌芽》 'Sprouting' in Chinese, and Nana is 《娜娜》.
usage
佐拉 also renders the name Zora, as in the American writer Zora Neale Hurston, 佐拉·尼尔·赫斯顿, author of Their Eyes Were Watching God.
