The three months of each season are named with 孟, 仲 and 季, old words for the eldest, middle and youngest of brothers: 孟春, 仲春, 季春 for spring, and likewise 仲夏, 仲秋, 仲冬. 仲秋, the eighth month, is when the Mid-Autumn Festival, 中秋节, falls.
