history
The five Hu are the Xiongnu (匈奴), Xianbei (鲜卑), Jie (羯), Di (氐) and Qiang (羌) peoples, though Han Chinese founded some of the states too. The short form is 十六国; the count of sixteen comes from 崔鸿's history of the period.
