Tips

register
Regional / dialect usage - common in Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan and parts of the lower Yangtze, parallel to Cantonese 落街 (lok⁶ gaai¹). Standard Mandarin would say 上街 (literally 'go up to the street') for the same action. Hearing 下街 signals a non-northern speaker.
